Amanda- Veterinary Assistant

Amanda joined South Rhea in October of 2007 and is working as a veterinary assistant. She is getting married in December 2008 (sorry guys) and will be sharing her home with her new husband and her two dogs; Bocephus and Cheesie, the other loves of her life.

 

Receptionists

Joy- Receptionist

Joy joined the practice in April of 1999. When not at work, she enjoys reading and spending time with family and friends. She is married to Chase, has no children and shares her home with 1 dog, Delight, 5 cats, {Daisy, Coal, Lilly, Jack, and Camille} and 1 Iguana, Emerald.

Jody- Receptionist

Jody joined South Rhea in April 2004. She has a son named Blake, along with 7 dogs and enjoys being outdoors when she is not at work.

 

 

Amber - Kennel Attendant

Amber, a senior in high school, joined South Rhea in September of 2007. She works part time in the kennels in the afternoons and enjoys working with the animals. She has four dogs of her own that she loves to spend time with. She enjoys outdoor activities and spending time with her boyfriend or just relaxing. She plans on continuing in the veterinary field after high school by pursuing a Veterinary Technician degree.

Shanna- Receptionist

Shanna joined the practice in July 2005. She is married to Casey and they have two daughters, Laney and Neylee. When not at work, she enjoys just being home with her family.

 

 

 

 

Debbie-Exam Room Assistant / Inventory

Debbie has been at South Rhea since November 2003. Debbie started her tenure with South Rhea working in the kennels, moved to receptionist for 1 year and has now moved to exam room assistant. She also handles the job of inventory management. Her and husband Randy have been married since 2001 and have three sons ; Jason (married with three Children), Mikey (In the U.S. Army and stationed in Kentucky with one son, Zander), and Jay (Recently Graduated from high school). The family also consists of two dogs, three cats, and one bird. "I really enjoy working at the clinic and hope that your animals enjoy coming there."

Allison- Veterinary Assistant / Grooming

Allison joined the practice in August of 1996. She started in the kennels  while still in high school and has moved over the years to exam room assistant, surgical assistant, groomer and inventory management. She can wear many different hats at the practice. She has lived in Dayton all her life and she is married to Dale and they one daughter, Megan. They also live with 4 dogs and 5 cats. Her current duties include Grooming and Veterinary Assistant.

Callie- Bookkeeper

Callie has been at South Rhea since 1995 working in every aspect of the Hospital. She is now the bookkeeper, and loves working with this brilliant staff and group of doctors. In her "spare" time she enjoys raising Dobermans and getting in a little flying time, utilizing her pilots license as much as she can.

Dr. Sherle Thompson

Dr. Thompson, co-owner, graduated from Auburn University in 1997 with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. She joined the practice in August of 2000. She also owns an equine practice. When she is not at work, she enjoys gardening / yard work, home improvements and raising German Shepherds. She also tries to get in some time throughout the year for horseback riding. She has 3 horses and now any "spare time" she has, she tries to squeeze in a bit of riding. She also has 7 cats, 12 dogs, and 1 pony.

   In February 2008, Dr. Thompson moved to Sequoyah Animal Hospital in Soddy Daisy, TN. This joint venture between herself and Dr. Nix provides the same high  quality veterinary care that you have grown accustomed to at South Rhea.  The operating hours are the same as South Rhea and in addition to small animal services she also provides veterinary care for horses.

Dr. Jeffrey Nix

Dr. Jeffrey Nix, Co-owner, graduated from Auburn University in 1989 with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. His main interest is surgery, especially orthopedics. When not at work, Dr. Nix  exercises and plays the bagpipes. He has been married to Callie for 21 years and has 2 children, Kelsey and Chandler. Dr. Nix shares his home with 3 dogs, (Dallas , Mavarick , & Odessa) 4 cats, {Betty Boop, Nala, Miss Whiskers and Taz} 2 Horses ( Ginger and Snap ) and a bearded dragon (Twister).
